Why Bullies Bully

Spread the love

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Today I want to answer what is an age-old question that I am positive that all targets of bullying have often asked: Why do bullies bully?

They do it to get a RUSH of power and control. They want to dominate another human being. These people want the power to decide how the victim feels and how his/her day goes. Their goal is to make themselves feel awesome by making the victim miserable. I want you to understand that bullies get a huge rush from mistreating another person. This rush is like a drug to the bully and is very addictive. And if they don’t get that rush, they won’t know what to do with themselves.

Although it is said that bullies are insecure people with low self-esteem and with some bullies, this is certainly true, with others, it is the exact opposite. I’ve found that there are several, who actually have high self-esteem and over-confidence. These bullies think that they really are invincible and untouchable. They are under the false impression that they are better than their targets and truly believe that it is their RIGHT to mistreat their targets. These people think that they should be allowed to do with their victims anything they want and that the target is supposed to just shut-up, stand there and take it without question or protest.

With narcissistic and authoritarian bullies, if you dare to get offended by their mistreatment or stand up for yourself, you will not earn respect like they do in the movies. No. Instead, they will get angry and only intensify the torment until you submit. Anytime you defend yourself, you are a threat to the bully’s power and they will stop at nothing to bring you back down to where they think you should be and reclaim that power. These types of bullies despise change or threats.

I believe that the more you know about the inner workings of bullies, the better you will be able to handle them. Have a great weekend.
