          • Yes! It’s funny… my feelings about Michael Jackson were complicated back then. Thriller was 1st and 2nd grade for me, and I loved everything about that album, especially after we got cable (and MTV) when I was in 2nd grade. Bad was 6th grade, and for some reason I decided I didn’t like Michael Jackson anymore, although I did always like The Way You Make Me Feel when it came on the radio. Smooth Criminal too. (I didn’t appreciate Man in the Mirror until I was older and really understood it.) I didn’t actually own the Bad album until adulthood, although my not liking Michael Jackson had gone away by 10th grade when Dangerous came out. I had that album when it was new… one of the first CDs I had when we first got a CD player.

          • I liked Micheal Jackson when I was 8-12 years old. I first took notice of his music with “I Wanna Rock With You” and “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” while laying in the hospital after my Mom and I were in a near-fatal car accident.

We spent two months in hospital and because we were both in traction, we couldn’t get out of bed for six weeks. The only thing to do was either watch TV, or listen to the music channel. It was also when I was introduced to Prince’s music with “I wanna Be Your Lover.”

          • Nice… it’s interesting how songs can be so closely tied to memories of significant events like that. That’s part of the reason why I include a song with every post on my blog.

          • It sure is. And I don’t blame you. I’ve always been a music lover. I gravitated away from MJ right before I turned 13 as I was entering my Heavy Metal years! I traded MJ for Motley Crue, Dokken, and other hard rock bands. I did, however, stay loyal to Prince.
