Today’s Quote

“A healthy self-love means we have no compulsion to justify to ourselves or others why we take vacations, why we sleep late, why we buy new shoes, why we spoil ourselves from time to time. We feel comfortable doing things which add quality and beauty to life.”

  1. This reminds me of a woman I know who beats herself up for existing on the logic that she’s causing global warming. I don’t mean this as a partisan thing either, when I read diaries/newspapers/etc from earlier times, I find countless variations on the theme. Origen, one of the church fathers, for example, attempted to starve himself on the logic that it was a way out of the sinful world.

    • Oh no! I hate to say it, but it sounds like these particular individuals were quite disturbed. My heart goes out to them both. Its sad that there are many people who loath themselves and feel they have to punish themselves and atone for things they have nothing to do with and which are totally beyond their control. Thank you so much for commenting. 💕
