If they destroy your confidence, they’ll destroy your life.
It’s a fact! If your confidence goes, your performance in school, or on the job, your social abilities, everything else will go too!
Think about it. Most bullied children and teens do not do well in school if others do not treat them fairly and respect and give them space, opportunity, and freedom to learn and grow.
Anytime someone is bombarded with consistent put-downs, nitpicking, and abuse, their grades suffer because they eventually stop believing in themselves.
Although we hear of bullied kids who get mad, dive into schoolwork, and make exceptional grades and honors to compensate for their social failures, these kids are often the exception to the rule.
So, if you ever encounter bullying, you must guard your confidence and self-esteem with everything you have in you. Because your life truly does depend on it!
Here’s how you protect your self-esteem and confidence:
• Do things you enjoy most.
• Display your talents and gifts.
• Keep company only with people who encourage, respect, and love you the most.
• Be there for others who are suffering.
• Take pride in your appearance and look your best. Because if you look great, you feel great!
• Make affirmations- “I AM” statements to yourself every day. “I AM beautiful,” “I AM smart,” “I AM better than what they say,” etc.
• Find a therapist to talk to.
• Tell the people who love you about what you’re going through.
• Whatever you do, Don’t be silent about it!
Don’t you think you’re worth it? I do!
I know all about this, most of those horrible years, my grades were average at best. When I moved out of that town, I made the honour roll.
Omgosh, Micheal! You sound like me when I moved away from Oakley! At my new school, I made the honor roll from then on- my grades skyrocketed seemingly OVERNIGHT!
Same with me. One of my teachers at my new school new one of mine from the old one. When I got my second A on a history test, my teacher said he was going to tell the other one how well I was doing.
I know you felt proud…and a bit vindicated! 😊
I did!😁
I wonder what your old teacher said to your new teacher when she told her how well you were doing? Boy, I would love to have seen her reaction. 😊
My theory is that the teacher from the old school did report back to his colleagues that I was doing really well in my new school. There wouild have been speculation as to why I didn’t do well there although they would deny the real reason, all the bullying I was enduring. However, I can envision one seventh grade math teacher saying that by moving I learned the wrong lesson. I now learned that I could run away from my problems. No, I simply left a toxic city.
That you did, you left a toxic town and it worked wonders for you. Haha! I would love to have seen their faces when word got back to them. Lol
Me too.
You hit on several great examples. The key is to build confidence and find your own tribe/inner circle. Also you have to find your own hobby like your writing, Cherie. I also think people have to stand up for themselves. Don’t bully others obviously but stand up for yourself. Build confidence for example if you are a girl buy that flattering swimsuit. If you are a guy find a game you are go at it whether it is a video game etc. Use social media/technology to find people of a similar background/interest.
Such important and perfect reminders – make a world of a difference to life!
Thank you so much for your kindness. ❤🤗
You are very welcome 🙂 💛
