What It Means to Have That Sick Feeling in The Pit of Your Stomach

When I see a bully from my past, I get that nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach even now. I don’t even want the person around me. I have no ill will toward the person, and I don’t hate them. I only wish for the person to stay away.

Understand that these body sensations never lie. They are there to warn you of impending danger, and you should always listen to them. That gut feeling is there to protect you. There are other names for the gut feelings we get. We also call it our instinct, a hunch, or sixth sense.

There’s a good reason God gave this instinct to us. It serves as an internal alarm to warn us when something is wrong. Animals have these instincts, too, as do babies and children.

Instincts in animals are a lot keener than in humans because they must survive in the wild. And the instincts of babies and children are much keener than in adults. The reason for this is that the world hasn’t yet tainted children and conditioned them to tone down that sixth sense.

To stay safe, we must reteach ourselves to obey what our senses try to tell us.

Your heart will deceive you, and so will your mind. But your gut is always honest. Listen to it.

  1. Yeah πŸ‘
Again I am happy to get great lines of strength from you.
But I have a problem. I can’t avoid the person because I can’t be separated πŸ€£πŸ˜‚. Still some strength I got from your post.
    Regards πŸ™

    • Thank you so much much, Arun. It’s terrible when you can’t get away from a bully and I endured the same in school. I was stuck with those creeps with no way to transfer schools. It was like living in hell. And I’m so sorry you’re in the same predicament. πŸ’”

      • Yes. In this age, I am running 63.
Imagine that I am under bully, very badly and no escape.
So, I have adopted my path of Enlightenment, practice of Equanimity. I remember a movie which I saw when I was young. 36th chamber of Shaolin. There, the students, initially used to place their palms in hot πŸ”₯ piles of sand and then to practice under ice cool blocks and hands were made of steel.
I remember that and digest all bullying. Tremendous pressure. Can’t really express here.
Got enormous strength from your posts. I understand these are as blessings to digest all odds.
        Thank you.
        Best regards πŸ˜ŠπŸ™β€οΈπŸ˜Š
        I am really blessed

        • You’re most welcome, Arun. You don’t know how much this means. I’m so sorry you’re being bullied. But bullies usually bully those they’re jealous of. Sounds like you have something they don’t think they can ever have.

          • Yes You are right.
            This is due to jealousy.
So I can’t rectify the problem.
I have changed my mind to become extremely tolerant.
Believe that Almighty God will take care surely. Only matter of time.
And another strength is friends like you who posts highly intellectual topics and interactive. Your words gives me peace and confidence.
            Best wishes πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

  2. My gut seems to have more than one sensation that warns me… I assume that is equivalent to some sort of an intensity of danger…. For me, the worst sensation is when my hair stands on end. That is a ‘stop right there’ warning, that often puts me in a cold sweat. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often… it is also the reason I avoid the snake house at the zoo like it is a plague.

  3. Oh my gosh, this is definitely true. πŸ‘πŸ½ My gut instinct is one that I rely on, and when I dismiss that feeling, I come to regret not following it later. 😱 Thanks so much for touching on this topic Cherie, because it is simple, not complicated, but wise. πŸ€—πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’–

  4. I for years! Would go against my instincts and well end up in not good situations. Nowadays I take the time out to really understand what the message is that my body is sending me. Good read for sure

      • Definitely did it even up till my mid 20’s lol. I honestly in some situations wanted to be wrong even now I get like that. However I changed my frame of thought when it is coming through opposite of what I want. For example oh maybe this wasn’t meant for me stuff like that and I genuinely get a more positive outlook and feel about even situations I wanna be wrong with. It’s a much better way to live it’s more stress free. It’s all give and take trial and error. I used to fill myself with negative everything it’s draining.

        • The mid 20’s part is relatable. However, I now listen to my gut because not listening to it almost got me killed the last time. I’m so glad you’re thinking more positively because it can change your life. Keep up the awesome work, Shelby. πŸ˜ŠπŸ€—

          • Omg really??. I’m so glad your here to be able to share with us ❀️. God love you that’s so terrible. I can relate but probably maybe not in the same sense. A guy I really was in love with I knew we were toxic I knew I should’ve left. The physical abuse was getting to the point I did sometimes think will I make it the next day?. Will my mom find me? Stuff like that tough cycle to break. Again thank you for sharing.

          • You’re most welcome, Shelby. I’m so sorry this guy abused you so badly. If you haven’t left yet, please do. If you have, know that there are people out there who can help you. πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

          • I’m so glad you left that guy. And yes, they all try to contract you. And he contacted you to check up on you, I guarantee it. Don’t give him the time of day! 😱
