How It Feels When Strangers Meet Your Ruined Reputation before They’ve Had a Chance to Meet You

The most insidious thing about being a target of bullying is the loss of opportunities to meet new people and the inability to move on with new friends. When bullies and their drones have unjustly slandered or libeled you, even total strangers will no doubt hear of you, and chances are, they will automatically have their minds made up about you before they get a chance to meet you. Sadly, this is one feature of bullying that crosses very few people’s minds.

What’s even scarier is that you are left completely defenseless against any attack these strangers may bring because you haven’t the slightest idea who they are. How do you know who to watch out for? How do you know who to avoid? It’s impossible to protect yourself from invisible enemies.

It is a situation in which you are walking blind, which is very dangerous! You cannot see the enemy. Someone could walk right up to you on the street, in broad daylight, with a weapon hidden on them and you would never know of their intent to hurt or kill you until it was too late.

Remember. We lost the Vietnam War because we didn’t know who the enemy was. We didn’t know exactly who was or wasn’t on our side!

It’s the same when you are a target of bullying, especially if you live in a rural area where everyone knows everyone. Once your tarnished reputation reaches far and wide, there will be times when you won’t know who is coming for you and it will be as if you are fighting ghosts.

Sadly, in these cases, the bullying has for so long gone on that your reputation in the community has become ironclad, and there isn’t much you can do to change it. Therefore, the best you can do to better your life is to move away and get a fresh start in a new town. It may be the only way you will find happiness and stability.

With knowledge comes empowerment!

  1. Cherie, it’s me Marla. If I need to print out a link for my daughter’s friend to follow you or at least read an article, but she may not have WordPress, how can that happen?

  2. WOW, what a tough situation to be in. Sometimes I just wonder if the target can move financially. If people are this wayward and unjustly label you as something you are not, like the Town’s slut for example, how do you play offensive instead of defensive? This is so tragic and sad, and completely unfortunate to happen to good people. But I agree that you just might have to seek opportunities elsewhere, because that particular community just might be a graveyard you need to get far, far away from. This type of harassment shouldn’t be. But karma is a bitch! SMH 😠😤🤬

    • You’re absolutely right, Kym! In fact, you’re spot on, girl! In many cases, the target won’t be able to move financially and may have to get a job in the next town or county. And yes, it IS sad and tragic and there’s little offense or defense to that kind of thing, unfortunately.

Working after school in another town is what I had to do and I’m glad I did that because it was a way for me to get around my unjustly ruined reputation. Besides, I didn’t want to work in the town I was bullied in because I suffered enough at school and I would be damned if I was going to suffer at my after school job too.

Thank you so much for your thoughts on this, sweetie! You don’t know how much I appreciate them and how on point you are with your comments. I’m amazed at the knowledge you have on bullying and the thought provoking questions you ask. <3 :)

      • Oh Cherie, I just hate to hear how such horrific things occurred to you. But one thing is for sure, thank God you payed attention and learned how to survive the grips of their claws. Look at you now. Without them, you would not be able to help so many people who are dealing with what you have dealt with and inevitably succeeded. When I look through some of the comments on your various posts, so many ask questions so that they can share encouragement with others dealing with the same thing. God bless you girlfriend 🙏🏼 for using your platform to show how one can rise up from the abuse and the cesspool of bull crap you endured from your past! 💪🏼🥊🏆

        • Aww, girl! You don’t know how much this means! 😍🥰 And you’re so right- without them, I wouldn’t have this mission! 💯And I tell them that during the occasional times I post one of my blog posts on the class page! Oh yes, I’m on the class Facebook page although I’m not very active on it. But I have thanked them and told them that if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am now! 🤭🤭🤭Hahahaha! Dead silence! Maybe I’ll get one like. But hey, that only entertains me. You just know they’re mad, girl! 😂🤣😂🤣😜 Sometimes I like to ever-so-subtly and sweetly rub it in. 😇😇😇
