The Target Who Snaps

After people have targeted a person, they react sooner or later. Some targets react negatively by turning the rage inward and lashing out at others. I did that once upon a time, and I hate to have to admit that.

There are, however, exceptions! Several react positively- they may become advocates against bullying and for people who are targets of such mistreatment, which is a great thing. Others focus more on their life goals. Because they had positive influences in their lives, or they chose to be their own positive influence, which buffered their self-esteem from the blows in so many ways from the psycho/emotional effects of bullying.

Still, so many others often retreat within themselves, and it happens when others force them to feel as if their feelings don’t matter. These people often realize that no one will believe them if they talk about it. These are the ones who suffer in silence while trying to process what’s happening to them and why.

They stuff it down because they don’t want to feel the pain and negative emotions that come with bullying.

They feel that if they cry about it, they’re losing control.

They also feel that if they’re quiet about it, the bullying will magically go away.

But these three things couldn’t be further from the truth! When we feel the pain and cry, we’re releasing all those pinned up, toxic emotions, and we feel so much better afterward. And being quiet about anything won’t make it go away, but it is only why toxic emotions build up in the first place.

And you can’t continue to carry all that baggage forever. Sooner or later, you’ll need to unpack all that crap and put it away!

For me, it took a lot of therapy, journaling, and working on myself to survive it, but I’m so glad I put in the work. It takes much grit and determination to withstand any form of abuse.

Still, anytime I see a kid who’s shy and withdrawn, the first question that pops into my mind is, “Is this person a target of bullying?” And I say a little prayer for them!

With knowledge comes empowerment!

  1. Grieving the effects of bullying has been essential to my recovery. I still sometimes think “oh I am focusing on this again!” And then I realize that my intention is not to focus on the bully, but on my healing. To grieve and be fully honest about the effects is needed, and is indeed saying “I matter, and this happened!”

  2. …all night I soak my pillow with tears, I drench my couch with my weeping. (Psalms 6:6)
The Lord receives my prayer. Let all my enemies be ashamed and sorely troubled; let them turn back and be put to shame suddenly (Psalms 6:9)

  3. It’s only but so much one can take as a victim of bullying. As they say, back a dog up in a corner, he will come out biting the living shit out of you. 😡 Thanks for sharing this warning sign and how critical it is for us to heed the caution! Have a wonderful day girlie! 🌞💐🥰💖😊

    • 🤣😂🤣😂 I’m not getting anything put on my body that I can’t take off, sweetie! 😜 Thank you so much for the sweet comment and the laughs! 😁😁😁

      • 😂😂😂😂 me either my dearest. You’re so welcome my friend. While I appreciate on someone else’s body, i’m a wimp for pain and gravity only works one way. 😂😂💖

          • 3 babies born at home and one at the hospital and that pain I can handle, even tho if ripped me in 2 .. hahaha .. but DO NOT inflict self imposed pain on me. 😂😂 I’m a wimp then.. hahah

          • I hear you there, sweetie. I gave natural childbirth to each of my children as well- no epidural. My last child, no drugs and he weighed over 9 lbs. But I’ll never torture myself with hetting tattoos- don’t like needles! 🤣😂🤣😂 Not only that but, just imagine how the tattoo would look once a person gets old and saggy- I’ll happily pass that luxury! 😁😜

          • Oh wow.. a kindred soul.. so very cool. it’s rare these days. I don’t mind when it’s needed but not just because of fear of of the unknown or pain. Truth is it’s the least of the pain in raising children and an initiation into that. ( i also do pre postnatal and did a lot of birth coaching) I’m soooo with you on that front… I’ve got enough sagging and bills to pay .. lol 💖😂😂

          • Awesome sauce! We are kindred souls indeed! I also have another kindred soul named Kym Gordon Moore! In my friendship with her, I’ve found that we were pretty much raised the same way and had mothers with similar beliefs when it came to parenting! How refreshing it is to meet a kindred spirit! And I feel you on the sagging and bills to pay! 🤣😂😜

          • YES WE ARE AND I KNOW!!! SHE IS A GEM AND I ADORE HERE TOO!!! CUTE FROM THE SAME CLOTH. LOVE IT DEAR CHERIE!!! haahahaaha what a post name it could be.. sagging with bills to pay. hahaha 💖

  4. Love your information on bullying. I feel the same way when I see someone “shy and withdrawn”, I wonder, too, if this person is a target of bullying. Yes, “with knowledge comes empowerment!”

  5. Great post! I did all of the above at some point the past 5 yrs. I snapped and reacted really badly a few times, but in the end, I have learned what I needed to do for myself. I don’t feel bad over my bad reactions, I learned it was normal. I still struggle with it all sometimes, but I am getting better. Determination and education was key for me.

    • I’m so proud of you, Stella! It takes a lit of time and effort to overcome the aftereffects of what happened to you but you’re gonna make it! I believe you will, sweetie! You are a warrioress! 💪💪💪

  6. Grit and determination are the keys out of any dilemma, great to see that you were able to find that strength and pull yourself through, Cherie! And now you are inspiring so many others, truly admirable.
